A silver square can be a satisfying starting point for a clean desk. Mac mini places the computer in a compact five-by-five-inch enclosure rather than tying it to a built-in display.

This linked reference identifies M6, a 12-core CPU and GPU, 16GB memory and 256GB storage. Apple lists the 2026 M6 model separately from M5 Pro, so keep the actual chip selection in view.

Build the complete desk in your head

Unlike an iMac, the mini does not make the screen part of its silhouette. Account for a display, keyboard, pointing device and their connections when comparing the cost and space of a complete setup.

If you already like your monitor, that separation can be useful. Check resolution, cable requirements and compatibility before assuming the existing screen will connect in the way you want.

Ports at the front and back

The M6 specification includes front USB-C connections and rear Thunderbolt 4, HDMI and Ethernet. Decide which devices you reach for often and which can stay connected behind the desk.

The listed support for multiple displays is subject to particular connection and resolution combinations. Read Apple's exact configuration guidance instead of translating the maximum count into any possible screen arrangement.

A little machine is still a configuration choice

The selected 16GB memory and 256GB storage should be compared with your own applications and file library. A compact enclosure does not tell you whether the chosen resources match a particular workflow.

Confirm the selected configuration and included contents on the current offer. Compare it with an iMac only after including the separate display and accessories, so the smaller box does not hide the larger purchasing plan.
